The Millennium Philcon is proud to bring you the best in Science Fiction, Fantasy, spectacle and the city of Philadelphia. Our goal is to ensure that each and everyone at the convention shares at least one big moment in history - whether they are a recipient of a Hugo for 1950 or 2000 (or simply be there to see who wins!), appear in a costume on stage (or delight in watching your favorite character appear!), eat of the wonderful city of Philadelphia (cheesesteaks available at the Thursday night Meet-and-Greet), or help us to begin and end with a bang (or is it a Ben Franklin thunder-clap?) - and see some of the finest in visual entertainment from Anime to 1950's classic movies to the best today has to offer. So, come and be big with us! And, if you are so inclined, take time to help make our own little bit of history.

Animé
For this year's Anime program there will be some episodes of series, and a mixture of both recent and classic anime films. We will be running 24 hours per day, with something for everyone!
Colette Fozard, Anime, events@milphil.org
Films and Video
We will continue the tradition of bringing you films you can't see in a large format anymore. In addition to Hugo nominated current films, we will also present classic films from the 1950s and many other science fiction and fantasy films and videos.
New! Trailer Park A Worldcon Tradition. Wall-to-wall trailers, teasers, clips and featurettes from upcoming science fiction, fantasy, horror, animated and other genre releases under one roof in one room at one time. You can be pretty sure it'll include Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone and Lord of the Rings as well as a few you're not expecting. Gathered for MilPhil by veteran studio genre consultant and long-time Worldcon attendee Jeff Walker.

Hugo Ceremony
Day & Time: Sunday, September 2, 8:00 PM
Location: Grand Ballroom, The Philadelphia MarriottSeven times seven ceremonies ago, our forefans decided to honor their own. First awarded in 1953, here in Philadelphia, the Hugo is the Science Fiction Achievement Award, given to the best in the field, as determined by the votes of the membership of the World Science Fiction Society. And that membership is you, the members of the 59th World Science Fiction Convention. Please remember to cast your vote.
In 1953, at the 11th World Science Fiction Convention, you would have seen Alfred Bester win the first Best Novel Hugo. The Award for New SF Author went to Philip Jose Farmer.
On Sunday, September 2, 2001, the Hugos will be presented for the 49th year. Please come and join us in honoring the Science Fiction field.

Retro Hugos - 1950
Day & Time: Friday, August 31, 8:30 pm
Location: Room 204, Philadelphia Convention CenterJourney back in time to the year 1950. Televisions (although there were Very few) were in black and white, Microwave ovens were non existent, and a new age was about to begin with the advent of computers. Yet, there were some visionaries who foresaw many of the technological advancements as well as some of the social issues that we have today. The Retro Hugo Ceremony will honor those Science Fiction writers and filmmakers who were applying their trade in 1950. Join us for a celebration of those who brought the past into the future.
